The Wildcats overcame the Scarlet Knights in a decisive 20-9 game.
The Northwestern University Wildcats women’s lacrosse team beat the visiting Rutgers University Scarlet Knights by 11 points April 17 at home, matching their season high of 20 total goals. The match was also the team’s last home game and senior night.
The Wildcats scored 15 points over the Knights in the first half of the game, dominating the field from the beginning of the match--the first goal was scored by freshman Leighton Yenor less than three minutes into the game, and the second came from Yenor on the next play.
In the second half, the Knights narrowed the gap, scoring four consecutive goals.

Senior and captain Kaleigh Craig scored six goals during the match, a career high.
Northwestern’s seven senior players were honored after the game ended in an annual ceremony celebrating their years with the team. Senior Emily Eichner scored her first season and career goal preceding the ceremony.
Overall, the game was head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller’s 250th win in her career and moved the Wildcats to a 7-7 record for the season with a 2-1 record in Big Ten matches.
