Oak Hills Country Club hosts annual April Couples' Golf Tournament in record high temperatures.

The weather in Chicago during the month of April can be very unpredictable. While this tournement has been cancelled in years past for snow, this year, golfers were treated to temperatures in the mid 70s. .

"We've been out here when it is in the mid 40's," Ann Hart, yearly tournament participant said. "The weather today made the event much more enjoyable."

Each year, Oak Hills Country puts on a couples' nine hole golf tournament early in the spring as a way to bring the community together and get everyone excited about golfing and spending time together.

"It's a great way to meet people," said club president John Stroud. "My wife and I joined the club ten years ago and this tournament is where we met some of our best friends. It is so nice to see the event continue year after year."

This year's competition was won by the Dave and Ann Hart, but for the Oak Hills Country Club community, while competition is fun, this tournament is more about having fun with friends.

Despite Chicago's unpredictable springs, it is important for Oak Hills Country Club to host the tournament early because they notice it fosters relationships early that only grow stronger throughout the summer.

"Sometimes it is cold and miserable," Stroud said. "But every year people keep coming back. It gives new members a chance to meet people so they have friends to play with in the summer months."

This year, the club had a record turnout. While it may have been because of the weather, Stroud credits the strong community bond that Oak Hills Country Club fosters. .
